Low-density surcharge (may be applied if the volumetric weight of a parcel is 3 or more times its actual weight) Example: a Michael Kors bag without repacking has an actual weight of 2 kg and a volumetric weight of 9 kg = a surcharge for 7 kg at $3 comes to $21. If you repack it (repacking $2) and replace the huge store box with a smaller one, the actual weight stays 2 kg while the volumetric weight drops to 4–5 kg, and no surcharge applies.
